(Bangor Silversmiths and Jewellers, Fenno & Hale were among the city's most patriotic during the dark days of the Civil War. Shopkeepers Jeremiah Fenno and Charles Hale provided free space and sewing machines in the store at 24 Main Street for 50 Bangor ladies who gathered to create garments for the men who had gone South to fight).
